Watermelon Cocktails
Sarah provides us with some fruity watermelon beverages to enjoy, both cocktail and mocktail versions. (Though vodka is not on our list of staples, perhaps it will be after trying one of these).
Lime
Limes are a high acid citrus fruit. They are vibrant green, generally smaller and more acidic than their counterpart, the lemon. Limes many recipes both sweet and savory.
Limes are becoming more popular in the culinary world. Just as lemons, they are used in food preparation, in cocktails, and in household cleaners as well. Be sure to use the zest of the lime as well as the juice.
Limes are fine to keep on the counter but they will last longer if stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. TIP- roll your citrus fruits on the counter before using, it will give you a higher amount of juice

Another recipe from the road. Though the ingredients are all flexible in this recipe (just the way we like them so you can work with your seasonal veggies) Sarah’s chili lime seasoning is a great one for whatever veggies and meats you choose to include. As always, work with the season and have fun making it your own!
Fellow Springdellian Ann B (photo) visited Carlsbad Cravings for this delicious dressing, making great use of your jalapeños. It is versatile and aside from the veggies and herbs, can be made with your kitchen staples! Try it on the veggie-rich Chipotle BBQ Chicken Salad, also on the Carlsbad Cravings website!
