The “Tell”- Springdell Summer CSA Pickup #13

Hi everyone, Jess here. It’s been one of those weeks – karate, parent-teacher events, birthdays, sports practices, piano practices, scouts… The nights we made it to the dinner table, everything was either on the grill or in the salad bowl with minimal effort and maximum deliciousness. Thanks to our farm family for another amazing week.

I’m so grateful that this time of year provides simple-to-prepare ingredients, just in time for the seasonal influx of activities.

Give a man a steak, he’ll eat for a day.
Teach a man to steak, and he might prepare dinner for you!
I chatted about my little guys meal at the beginning of the week, but thought I’d share the photo one more time since so many CSA ingredients were involved. In fact, everything on this plate was from the farm stand, including the seasonings!
Here’s some of the blender tomato sauce being prepped. I love the Vitamix because you can throw in the entire tomato, seeds and all. The carrots will sweeten the sauce, and you can toss it in the freezer until you’re ready to cook it.
Some of my cayennes began to go red, making for some beautiful color contrast. Here are the spicy slices ready to be candied.
These puppies will be ready to enjoy in 4 weeks. Meanwhile, I’ve already snuck about a dozen rings. When the spicy peppers are stacking up, this is a new go-to recipe on my list for sure.
Thank you, Jordan Brothers, for keeping Wednesdays quick and easy.
This one was so simple and so yummy.

Considering the week we had here at the Anderson Household, we did alright food-wise! Remember, even though my week may not have exciting new plans for certain vegetables, you can check the Veggiescope for any veggie you might be struggling with, and hopefully get some ideas for how to work with your veggie (and of course, please feel free to check in and ask questions as always, there’s no such thing as a silly one here!)
