Hi everyone, Jess here, freshly back from the final camping trip before school kicks in! Let’s get right to it!
Here’s a pic of this week’s bounty, short two heads of lettuce and a bunch of PYO flowers. I’m not sure if it was the 90 degree heat or the hustle to get back home to my oldest son who developed a fever during the camping trip, but alas I spaced out and left my Super Greens share in the water bin! I’m hoping someone will be able to use it, I hate leaving any veggie behind! Keep in mind as you look at this week’s bounty that there are some greens missing.
- corn
- cucumbers
- jingle bell peppers
- bell peppers
- Italian roasting peppers
- classic eggplant
- jumbo zucchini squash
- string beans
- “baby beef” tomatoes
- cherry tomatoes
- beefsteak tomatoes
- Paula red apples
- pearl peaches
- heirloom okra
Small shares contained the above items, but beets and no okra. Single shares contained corn, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, beets, cucumbers and peaches.
- watermelon
- grapes
- lettuce (1 head missing from the photo)
- eggs (Thank you for returning the cardboard egg cartons to the stand for re-use!)
A quick reminder that there is a limited “poultry harvest” going on at the end of September, and the list for one of these fine birds is currently open and I’m sure filling up fast! Check in with the farmstand if you’re interested! If you don’t wish to cook a whole chicken all at once, we have a step-by step tutorial to guide you through the process of breaking it down into smaller meals.
I look forward to checking in with you throughout the week. Due to my son’s fever and tummy trouble, we kept dinner very simple tonight. Lettuce wraps are always an easy Monday night crowd pleaser. Remember to rock the vote on Tuesday! I look forward to seeing you back here soon!
