Hi everyone, Jess here, still in Pennsylvania. Thanks to my house sitters for holding down the fort, and Ma and Nan for picking up the CSA and snapping some photos in my absence! A reminder for Springdell CSA members that during summer vacations where you’re out of town, there are options to “opt-In” to the Sunday pickup before or after your regularly scheduled pickup, or place a “vacation hold” on your CSA (if going for 2 weeks or longer). Swapping pickups with other members on Facebook works as well. Feel free to ask questions here or to discuss these options with folks at the farm stand to see what’s best for your vacation situation!

I promised I’d check in with Sarah’s CSA down in Pennsylvania! She receives hers from a farm called Spiral Path.
This week, her share consists of beets, zucchini, Boston lettuce, garlic scapes, oregano, tomatoes, mixed greens, cucumbers and snow peas! Similar to the “Show and Tell” and “Dell Declaration”, Sarah’s share comes with a newsletter that lists each ingredient with storage tips, and a few recipes. This week’s recipes include garlic scape pesto, zucchini brownies, marinated beets and sautéed beet greens. A very sweet addition to the newsletter is “Khaya’s Corner”, Khaya is a daughter of the Spiral Path family. One of Khaya’s weekly homeschool assignments is to write a blurb in the newsletter. Her blurb this week talked about how she got a job at the farmstand to save money to buy herself a phone, and she has just saved enough! Congrats, Khaya!
That’s about it for me this week. As I won’t be home suggesting new recipes, I’ll let the Veggiescope do it for me this week! Have fun with these goodies, and please drop a line if you make a yummy recipe to share! Include a photo if you can, doesn’t have to be fancy, but it’s always nice to see. Meanwhile, thanks for tuning in, have a wonderful week, and talk to you soon!
