Hello everyone! We are looking forward to this new year here at CSA365. We have a lot of new ideas in the making. For those that are new to the site, our sincerest welcome! Please enjoy this little video that sums up our goals here at CSA365.
For the veterans who have been with us through 2015, welcome back! We are so excited to bring you this new format. Here are a couple of changes that you’ll see at the site:
We’re happy to report that we’ll be continuing to work with Springdell Farm to bring you the Springdell Show and Tell for another year! If you’re one of our email subscribers, you’ll notice our format will be changed a bit, and this change will reduce the amount email our subscribers receive. If you are on our email list, you’ll receive the “Show” and “Tell” posts as sort of a weekly digest. However, we’ll still be adding regular recipe posts to the website as we always have. If you visit the site, you’ll see the most recent posts and most recent recipes on the main page.
We are super excited to include our new search database on the site, The CSA|365 Veggie Scope! You can search by local ingredient, and bring up a list of CSA365 and other contributor-suggested recipes that you can make with each local ingredient. Here’s the best part: you’ll be able to see what other local ingredients you’ll need to make each recipe right on the same page. This way you can cross reference and meal plan in real time right at the farmstand. We are currently in the process of bringing our 2015 recipes into the new Veggie-Scope format (we are about halfway through July at present), as well as prepping to add our latest ones in real-time. We hope you’ll find it handy, drop us a line and let us know what you think!
As part of Veggie-Scope, we are actively working on a local “ingredients” encyclopedia. 2-3 times a week we’ll be adding a description of each veggie, including nutrition, tips for growing, planting, cooking eating and preserving. We’ll be doing this as each veggie comes into season. We hope to have a completed encyclopedia of locally grown ingredients by the end of the year. At the bottom of each ingredient’s page, you’ll see the list of recipes that you can make with each ingredient, with more info and recipes being added daily.
We hope to take this year’s experience more into the gardens and into the fields as well. We plan to follow Fresh Start Food Gardens as they venture into their first season, and are looking to include gardening tips for those fellow home an community gardeners as well when the season kicks in. Stay tuned!
Feel free to check out our new events calendar! We’ll be listing locavore related events as we become aware of them.
Lastly and most importantly, this website is only as good as we all make it. All the changes you see here at the site were made due to the feedback from you, our fellow locavores! If you have any yummy recipes, helpful gardening tips or locavore related events to share, please contact us and let us know! If we work together, we can continue to make this a site a great resource for all of us. Thank you for your support, and we are looking forward to another great year!
Hugs,
Jess and Sarah
